We recently read an article by CBC News reporting on Radon Gas present in Canadian homes. We have never heard of Radon Gas or that it is the second leading cause of lung cancer behind smoking. The following day after reading the article we purchased a Radon Monitor and over the period of one week the readings varied from a low of 150 Bq/ m3 to a high of almost 300 Bq/ m3. The Canadian government recommends a level of 200 Bq/ m3. which is higher than other countries and the World Health Organization, which recommends 100 Bq/ m3.
We contacted a number of radon mitigation companies. We decided to have Radon PI do the radon mitigation for our home. Darius, of Radon PI was very thorough in explaining how radon enters the home and how it can be mitigated. Darius also explained the specific mitigation system that would be required for our home due to its construction.
The mitigation system was completed in less than one day and during the whole process Darius and his son explained each step. Since this was all new to us, it was appreciated that they took the time to do this. When they were done, they carefully cleaned up the areas where they worked, which was also appreciated.
Within 24 hours of the radon mitigation being installed, the radon levels were below 10 Bq/ m3 and and after the first day, the levels have ranged from 14 Bq/ m3 to 0 Bq/ m3 since the radon mitigation was installed 12 days ago.
I would not hesitate to recommend Radon PI to anyone looking for a radon mitigation system for their home.
